If there is any team that has surprised me in the Roshn Saudi League ( after Neom SC), it is Al-Taawoun. After Match Day 6 last week, Al-Taawoun were in 2nd place just behind leaders Al-Nassr. Known as Al-Dhiyaab, meaning the Wolves, Al-Taawoun have come out with sharp fangs and claws, determined to make a mark this season.
Al-Qadsiyah, on the other hand are not far behind either, firmly entrenched in 4th position. A win will see them rise further, and with Mateo Retegui, their star Italian striker in good form, Al-Taawoun will have a handful to deal with. But Fulgini and Martinez for Al-Taawoun have been very good in the season so far, and it will be difficult to tame them for Al-Qadsiyah.
The Wolves lost to Al-Khaleej in the King’s Cup in a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out and therefore would be gunning to get back on their winning ways.
Al-Qadsiyah, the Knights of the East, would be brimming with confidence after an emphatic 3-1 win over Al-Hazm in the King’s Cup.
Interestingly, their last 4 meetings have resulted in 2 wins for Al-Taawoun and 2 for Al-Qadsiyah. They are more like equals, just that the partisan crowd in Buraydah, a few hours from now, will be strongly behind the home team, and in my opinion, Al-Taawoun may just pull off a 2-1 win over Al-Qadsiyah. However, don’t be surprised if Al-Qadsiyah turn the tables.
We shall know soon. So keep tuned in.
