Manchester United Play Out A Draw Against Fulham

Manchester City Draw Against Fulham

Fulham emerged as the stronger side and played better against Manchester United as the match progressed at Craven Cottage last evening on Match Day 2 of the EPL 25-26 season. The hosts forced a draw, and it would not have come as a surprise if Fulham had emerged winners.

Manchester United have yet to get their act together, and though they tried hard, they still went goalless for the second game in a row. The one player who has impressed me and most of the fans, and critics has been Matheus Cunha, the Brazilian. He has great ball control and electric speed to match. Unfortunately, he hit the pole and once he shot wide of the Fulham goal. But apart from him, I have been a bit disappointed.

Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty, and the Portuguese has not been at his best so far. Casemiro has not lived up to his reputation and expectations from the time he donned United colours. Amad Diallo has huge potential, but post-injury, he is not moving that well, which is a concern.

Sesko, the much-talked-about transfer, is yet to showcase his prowess. So there is a long way to go for United, and I am not expecting any overnight improvements. For the United fans it would be better to scale down expectations for the moment.

For Fulham, Bernd Leno was sensational with his goalkeeping. He stood like a wall and protected his goal remarkably well. As the match progressed, Fulham gained confidence, and by the time the match ended, the hosts had 13 shots on goal against 10 by United and enjoyed 53% of the possession. Eventually, the hard work paid off with Emile Smith Rowe’s equaliser in the 73rd minute, cancelling out the own goal, which had given Manchester United the lead.

A good draw for Fulham in the end. The joy was clearly visible on Marco Silva’s face while Ruben Amorim, United’s manager, wore a sombre look.

Fulham have a tough assignment as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, while Man United will be hosting the latest entrants, Burnley, at Old Trafford.
