Mo Salah became the only player in the history of the PFA awards to win the Player of the Year for the third time. The Egyptian legend had won the coveted title earlier for the seasons 2017-18 and 2021-22.
Voted by fellow players in the English Premier League except his own teammates, Salah beat a glittering field of players, and particularly, had strong competition from Alexander Isak, but Salah so deservedly came through. His performance in the 2024-25 season has been exceptional, with 29 goals and 18 assists, and played a major role in winning Liverpool’s EPL crown last season.
Salah getting the award from his competitors is a testimony to the consistency in his performances and also how he is perceived as a player, both on and off the field. The man, from humble beginnings to a football legend, is indeed a great story.
Liverpool got past Bournemouth in the first match of the 25-26 season with Salah scoring yet again for the Reds. When asked about Liverpool’s prospects of defending the EPL title, Salah was as candid as ever. He said he could neither say Yes nor No. With new faces around, he would share his experience with them and then work hard, remain humble, and see how things pan out.
Along with Salah, Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa was voted the Young Player of the Year, while Mariona Caldentey picked up the main honours for the Women’s Super League
Mo Salah, a great ambassador of football and a monumental player.
