Mitch Starc Yorks It For DC
Mitch Starc showed why he is one of the best in business with two terrific overs to deny Rajasthan Royals (RR) a victory and, in turn, secure a tremendous win for his team, Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, last night.
DC & An Air Of Champions
There is an air about DC this year, an air of tenacity, an air of ruggedness, an air of a fighting spirit, an air of Champions. They look the best outfit so far in the Competition and though they had lost a winnable match a few days ago due to a string of run-outs, there were no such nerves last night.
DC Set Up A Fighting Score
DC batted well and finished at 188 in 20 overs on a pitch which was not that easy to bat. Though Jake Fraser-McGurk perished early trying another wild hoic, the rest of the batters in Porel, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel in particular ensured that DC had a fighting score in the end.
RR Start Well But Falter As Mitch Torments Them With Yorkers
RR started well and were looking to surpass the target without much fuss, but then things change fast in a T20 Match. Sanju Samson retired hurt, and then RR lost Parag early. Jaiswal and Nitish Rana carried on, and in the end, only 8 runs were required of the last over. Mitch Starc produced a barrage of yorkers to deny RR the victory, and the match went into the super over. It was an exhibition of some terrific fast bowling from the Aussie spearhead.
DC Win Super Over & The Match
In the Super-Over, too, Mitch Starc produced some fine stuff, hitting the toes of the batters. RR, in a hurry of sorts, went down with two unnecessary run-outs and set a target of 12 for DC. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs made light work of the predictable slow bouncers from Sandeep Sharma and reached the target in just 3 balls, with Stubbs hitting a massive six to finish the match.
DC – Front Runners For The Title
It was a real Humdinger of a tie. RR had all the cards but they faltered on the finish line, and DC stayed tenacious to win the match and take pole position in the IPL standings with 5 wins from 6 matches. Whether this is going to be Delhi’s IPL or not, only time will tell. But as of now, they are looking good for their very first IPL Title.
