Liverpool ‘s Staggering Numbers
After Match Day 32 and post thr clash with West Ham in the EPL, the stats for Liverpool are staggering with 23 wins, 7 draws, only 2 losses ( to Nottingham Forest and Fulham) and 76 points, a good 13 points ahead of 2nd placed Arsenal with just 6 games to go.
A Bit Of Concern Before The West Ham Encounter
As the touch line is approaching, Liverpool’s form has been turning scratchy, and though their march over Arsenal is by no means small, the lead up to their match against plucky West Ham had more concern than confident optimism. Liverpool had lost to Fulham on Match Day 31 and hence fans and critics were wary of the outcome on Day 32. Liverpool just had to buckle down and play some solid football at Anfield.
Liverpool Come Out All Guns Blazing
As the match began, a couple of nights ago, Liverpool appeared extremely purposeful, much to the delight of the fans. Mo Salah who has had a rather benign couple of weeks by his standards received a lovely through ball from Konate in the deep and sped away towards the West Ham Box.
Mo Salah’s Brilliant Assist & Diaz’s Sublime Finish
The ball sticking to his feet, Salah played an immaculate cross towards a fast approaching Luis Diaz in the centre. The cross split open West Ham’s defence with Diaz just tapping the ball home in front of goal. It was a terrific strike and a cool finish from open play by Liverpool as they went ahead in the 18th minute.
An Own Goal Plays Spoilsport For The Reds
Liverpool held on to the lead thwarting moves from the Hammers but as luck would have it, a loss in communication between Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson resulted in an own goal and the match was put on an even keel in the 86th minute.
Brilliant Van Dijk Wins It For Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk, however, made good the earlier error in the 89th minute. Alexis Mac Allister curled in a lovely ball from a corner and van Dijk produced a sensational header to earn The Reds a critical victory.
Great Goalkeeping By Becker Too
Alisson Becker, also produced a stupendous display of Goalkeeping in the entire match with crucial saves. He has been brilliant in front of goal and saved Liverpool the blushes several times. Eventually it was a hard fought win for Liverpool.
Liverpool Closing In On The Title
Liverpool will travel to Leicester on Sunday to face a beleaguered host. A win at the King Power stadium would almost assure the Reds of the EPL Title.
