Riyad Mahrez the former Manchester City striker who played an extremely important role in the success of the English Club is doing no different for his Al Ahli Saudi Team. The third highest paid Footballer in the Saudi Pro League and also in the World ( behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema), Mahrez produced a sterling performance to lead Al Ahli into the AFC CL Elite Quarter Finals.

It Was Advantage Al Ahli

Al Ahli Saudi had won the first leg against Al Rayyan in Qatar by a 3-1 margin which had given the Saudi Club a massive advantage going into the second leg at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Riyad Mahrez Scores Twice In 6 Minutes

After a drab first half, Riyad Mahrez scoted twice in 6 minutes to bury the tie. His first goal in the 77th minute was pure class as he controlled the ball perfectly and then placed it away from the rushing goal keeper. Six minutes later he drilled a superb strike to showcase his ability as a terrific finisher.

Al Ahli Triumphs Over Al Rayyan

Al Ahli triumphed 5-1 over Al Rayyan in the end thus storming their way to the last eight in the AFC Champions League elite competition. In the Saudi Pro League too they are in 5th place tied on 48 points with Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.

The Al Ahli Saudi Club is making waves. The competition beware.
