Liverpool Heading To Wembley
It has been confirmed, Liverpool are heading to Wembley to meet Newcastle United on March 16 in the Carabao EFL Cup Final.
The Reds Make It Happen
Heading into the second leg down a goal against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool had to produce a near perfect performance to reverse the deficit in their favour. Spurs, beseiged by inconsistent performances and a long list of injuries, were still tough opponents to counter. But the Reds just made it happen.
Mo Salah Shines Yet Again
A tremendous team effort it was. Mo Salah at the peak of his powers right now, assisted Cody Gakpo and the Dutchman obliged with a fine finish in the first half. Salah then converted a penalty with immaculate precision when Nunez was felled inside the Spurs’ box, to give Liverpool the lead on aggregate.
Brilliance From Szoboszlai
The more I see of Dominic Szoboszlai the more impressed I am. The Hungarian and Connor Bradley combined to the third goal. It was a lovely move and Szoboszlai was absolutely brilliant with the finish.
Van Dijk Wraps It Up
Virgil Van Dijk then towered above all else and headed a perfect corner cross from Mac Allister to settle the game. Liverpool had won 4-1 on aggregate and deservedly qualified to take on Newcastle at Wembley next month.
A Thriving Liverpool
At the end of the day Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk once again proved to be the pillars on which Liverpool is thriving. Arne Slot is in sight to win a final in the very first year of his stint with Liverpool.
An epic final awaits.
