A Season Of Magpies
What a Season it’s turning out to be for Newcastle United. The Magpies yet again showcased their brilliance as they played host to struggling Wolverhampton at the St.James’ Park last night on Match Day 21 of the EPL.
A Changed Wolverhampton
In the past Wolverhampton had been extremely good while defending and it was always difficult to score against them. However, this season things have changed and there is no guessing where the Wolves find themselves on the EPL leaderboard.
Isak’s Brace Propels Newcastle
Alexander Isak scored two lovely goals for Newcastle. The first one took a deflection which wrong footed the Wolves’ Goalkeeper, but the second one was a clean, sublime finish from a pin point Anthony Gordon pass. Isak had acres of space and even when he was waiting for the cross none of the defenders came close to tackle him.
Poor Defence From Wolves and Gordon Scores Too
The Anthony Gordon goal too was so similar with Gordon kicking home without any trouble with huge space available to him in the Wolves’ Box. This is where Wolves have been failing time and again. But nothing to take away from the Magpies who once again exhibited their goal scoring skills.
Strand Larsen Misses Twice
Wolves were also found wanting in front of goal and there were at least two clear chances where Strand Larsen should have scored. On both occasions he hit the woodwork but could not score. Two big opportunities missed by Wolves.
Tremendous Night For Magpies and A Let Down For Wolves
It was hence a tremendous night for Newcastle as they moved to 4th on the EPL Leaderboard, while Wolves would be required to do some serious introspection going forward. They are staring at a possible relegation.
