India Lose The Pink Ball Test
The much hyped Pink Ball Test at the Adelaide Oval has lasted just over a couple of days, with India succumbing to a 10 wicket loss. Australia making a terrific comeback after a thrashing at Perth to level the Border-Gavaskar at 1-1.
India’s Now Regular Batting Woes
India’s batting woes resurfaced yet again at the Adelaide Oval with the batters struggling to survive some testing pace bowling from the Australian trio of Mitch Starc, Pat Cummins and Scott Boland. 180 in the first innings and 175 in the second proved India’s undoing, registering their 4th loss in their last 5 test matches.
India Run Into Travis Head & Pay
The Bowling from India led by the exceptional Bumrah has been brilliant, but unfortunately they ran into the local boy Travis Head, a sworn Indian nemesis. Harshit Rana playing in his second test, realised the pressures of Test Cricket as his wayward stuff was easy meat for Travis Head and company as he received a decent pounding, going wicketless in 16 overs and conceding 86 runs.
Travis On The Rampage
Bumrah and Siraj bowled their hearts out but Travis Head was ready with all the answers to the questions posed by the Indian quicks. He cut, drove and pulled with consummate ease. His 140 of 141 balls was the difference between the two teams and might well be a series defining knock.
Rohit Sharma In Awful Form
Rohit Sharma, in awful form was stuck in the crease all the time. Once, getting leg before and once bowled by a beauty from Cummins. Virat Kohli too has been very edgy and made no contributions in both innings. India’s trump card Yashasvi Jaiswal had a poor match too. Gill perished after promising starts in both innings. His pretty looking cameos did India no good, while K L Rahul was ineffective.
Unusual From Rishabh
Rishabh Pant played more acrobatically than normally and paid the price. I just failed to understand his batting style. A good solid performance was expected of him but he kept playing unusual shots falling to the left and right. It was just a matter of time and he perished in the first over of the morning after India resumed at 128/5.
Nitish Impresses Yet Again
Nitish Reddy has startled and impressed every one with his gutsy performances, but again it was a big ask for him. The Indian tail just did not wag at all.
Cummins-Starc A Formidable Duo
Pat Cummins and Mitch Starc shared 15 wickets of the 20 Indian wickets to fall in the match and proved that they hunt in pairs. Scott Boland was a fine support too.
Lots To Think For India Before Gabba
In the end it was a comprehensive victory for Australia and they would be buoyed for the third test in Brisbane starting on the 14th. For India it was a reality check. The batting needs huge improvement and there is serious concern with Rohit Sharma’s form. The third seamer position also needs to be looked up. We might see Akash Deep making an appearance in place of Harshit Rana at the Gabba.
The series is interestingly poised and there is a lot to play for. And of course the colour of the ball would be Red too.
