FIFA World Cup & A Sensational Kylian Mbappe
The 2022 FIFA World Cup Final between Argentina and France has been hailed as the best Final ever in the history of World Cups. Lionel Messi’s Argentina triumphed over Kylian Mbappe’s France in a thriller of a duel. Messi played brilliantly and so did Mbappe. The French star scored a ripper and converted two penalties in a sensational display of belligerent football under pressure and in trying circumstances. So good was Mbappe that the world acknowledged that he was ready to take over the mantle of Football’s poster boy from Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mbappe’s Steady Decline
Time does not remain the same and post the World Cup things have not gone the way Mbappe would have desired. His performances have seen a steady decline and his much celebrated transfer to Real Madrid from PSG has been a more of a whimper than a blast. He has also fallen out with Didier Deschamps resulting his absence from the National side. France playing without Mbappe was unthinkable, but the same has happened.

A Missed Penalty At Anfield
To add to the misery Mbappe’s form with Real Madrid has been lackluster and he has not been able to win the hearts of Real Madrid fans. His performance against Liverpool at Anfield in the UEFA Champions league tie a couple of days ago was nowhere near the Mbappe we all know. He missed a penalty. The strike from him was a poor one and Kelleher the Liverpool Goalkeeper made a fine save. During the course of the match too, Mbappe was listless and the absence of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo cost Real Madrid big time.
The Mbappe Puzzle Needs To Be Solved
Mbappe’s ability is unquestionable, but what is going on between his ears needs to be addressed by him and his team. The once supremely confident Mbappe, a one man Army, looked under confident and unhappy at Anfield. The expression on his face said it all. I hope the experienced Carlos Ancelotti steps in big time to solve the Mbappe puzzle and get the Frenchman on track.
The World needs the Poster Boy back.
