Top Contenders for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Australia, India, and England are considered the top contenders for the title, though other teams are also aiming to make their mark. Australia, the defending champions, will once again be led by Alyssa Healy and will be aiming for their fourth consecutive title, having won the last three tournaments in a row. India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, is eager to break their ICC title drought and claim their first-ever trophy. After their recent Asia Cup triumph, Sri Lanka enters the tournament with newfound confidence, while hosts Bangladesh look to capitalize on home advantage. Meanwhile, England is determined to push past their past knockout-stage struggles, and 2023 runners-up South Africa will be aiming to go one step further and clinch the title.

ICC’s Groundbreaking Move

In a groundbreaking move, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced equal prize money for both the men’s and women’s T20 World Cup tournaments for the first time. The winners of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will receive a prize of USD 2.34 million, a significant 134% increase from the previous edition in 2023, where Australia claimed USD 1 million.
