A Mighty Resume
He has been the most prolific of goal scorers in the history of Football. The highest goal scorer in International Matches for England and the highest goal scorer in the history of Tottenham Hotspur, one of the finest clubs in English Football and the world. He is the second-highest all-time goal scorer in the history of the English Premier League. He has scored more than 350 goals for club and country.
This is a brief resume of 30 year old Harry Kane, one of the finest players in the world. The England Captain and now an integral part of Bayern Munich, the defending Champions in the Bundesliga.
Harry Kane, the Best in Business
Harry Kane is blessed with a rare ability to not only score himself but also make others score and that too in an amazingly consistent manner. Over the years he has always been amongst the top scorers in the EPL and has been amongst the best when it came to assists too. Son Heung-min, Kane’s compatriot at Tottenham would know better. A chunk of his goals have been Kane’s assists.
The Most Expensive Buy for Bayern
Harry Kane’s scoring prowess stems from his proficiency to be in the box at the right time. His technique with the ball and the skill to meet difficult angles on the ground and in the air makes him a special player. No wonder Bayern dished out €100 mn to have Harry Kane from Tottenham, making him the most expensive buy in Bayern history. But Kane is making every Euro count for Bayern.
On Top of the List
Harry Kane has hit the ground running in Germany and is in similar territory after 12 games. Without any surprises, he is the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 18 goals and would be more than wanting to extend his lead over Serhou Guirassy Of VFB Stuttgart, when Bayern take on Frankfurt tomorrow.
Kane in the Fast Lane
The stats are simply amazing for Kane. He has scored three back-to-back hat-tricks with one coming against arch-rivals Dortmund and his brace against Galatasaray in the Champions League ensured Bayern’s qualification for the knockout stages. Harry Kane has been phenomenal in Germany in his first year and with his 18th goal in the Bundesliga he became the highest-scoring Englishman in a single Bundesliga season, leaving behind Kevin Keegan and Jadon Sancho. The €100 mn is being well repaid for Bayern.
What Eludes Kane
What a player Harry Kane has been, but still he cannot be bracketed with the other greats of the game as yet. The reason being his unending drought of silverware and an empty cupboard of Winners’ Trophies. The Ballon d’Or too eludes him despite his exceptional performances as a goal-scoring machine. No wonder, he wanted to leave Tottenham in search of a team who could be Champions and though he missed out with Manchester City a couple of years ago, Bayern might just be the team to end this painstaking drought for him.
Some Misfortune
On the International Stage too, despite boasting of a terrific team, England has fallen short at critical junctures. They messed up a lead and then the penalty shootout against Italy in the Euro 2020 final and went down to France in a hard-fought Quarter Final at the World Cup in 2022. Harry Kane had unfortunately missed a penalty in the 83rd minute to get England back into the game.
The Tide Might Just Be Turning
Harry Kane has been a great servant of Football and also of his nation and truly deserves some silverware . A Bundesliga title, a UEFA Champions League Title and the Euro 2024 are all in the reckoning for Kane. Hope he makes it.
