Six-A-Thon @ Bowlers Graveyard

IPL16 : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Match 24 : Bengaluru

Batters Paradise

Small boundaries, a placid hard pitch, true bounce and bereft of either swing or seam, the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is said to be a Batters Paradise. Coupled this with the next gen form of fearless cricket, Bats which have a meet thicker than wrists and muscles bulked up through relentless gymming, the poor leather ball finds its top under relentless battering.

33 sixes & Bowlers Grind

The  Bowlers have a hard time in  Bengaluru and whatever may be your pecking order in greatness and skill, you are set to be treated with disdain by virtually every Batter worth his trade. The  Chinnaswamy, is a venue where Bowlers simply succumb to the assault, gulping down their ego silently. 444 runs were scored in 40 overs with 33 sixes hit, when RCB hosted CSK yesterday night. The 6th highest aggregate in the history of IPL.

RCB chase it down…almost

RCB almost chased down a mammoth 227 even after losing 2 early wickets including that of the inform Virat Kohli. Faf du Plesis and Glen Maxwell clobbered  the CSK bowlers and had it not been for a tepid middle/lower order response, RCB would have created a record. Infact in hindsight I strongly feel that RCB should have won the game instead of ending 8 runs short. Lot was expected of Dinesh Karthik and though he played a fine innings of 28, he fell short of one good hit into the crowd. That would have been enough to seal the story.

CSK hold on to their Nerves

CSK on  the other hand heaved a huge sigh of relief, they had almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, first by some uninspiring bowling ( cannot blame the bowlers much though ) and then by dropping 4 catches. However when it actually mattered they held on to their catches and bowled well, particularly Pathirana, the young Sri Lankan, who held his own with  Dhoni steering him right through the vital last few overs. Devon Conway once again showed his class and Shivam Dube his striking power, as they ensured a seemingly unchaseable total.

Cricket- The Entertainer

Another edge of the seat affair, with tons of entertainment culminated with a heartbreak for the locals. However, cricket the entertainer triumphed over all others. What a game!!

Mumbai Indians are travelling to Hyderabad tonight to meet a resurgent Sunrisers team under Aiden Markram. Let us see what Harry Brook has to offer tonight. A sure entertainer awaits us.
