Brentford & The Sting of the Bee

Brentford is a suburban town in West London , England and lies at the confluence of River Brent and Thames. This simple suburban town is home to a Football club , Brentford F.C. , founded on  10th of October, 1889.  

This 132 year old Club , hardly known outside England , having a fan base limited to the suburb of Brentford , with no great financial muscle , no mega players , no  mega transfers , no mega sponsors , has suddenly caught everyone’s attention and is making the world stand up, and take note.

Brentford F.C.  after a massive grind and hardwork of more than a decade, under the visionary and dynamic ownership of Matthew Benham and the astute coaching of Danish Manager , Thomas Frank of last three years , has resulted in Brentford qualifying to play in the English Premier League(EPL) after a gap of 75 years. The club had been knocking at the doors of top flight football for a few years now and eventually made it to the EPL after winning a play off against Swansea, this year.

Limited resources notwithstanding, Brentford has planned and worked meticulously towards the EPL and in the process building a team which in no uncertain terms is difficult to play against.  Being the minnows of the EPL this year , Brentford was not given much chance against the much fancied  and decorated Arsenal in the first game of the EPL , though fans expected them to hold their turf . However the Bees as they are nicknamed,  stung Arsenal and beat them 2-0. The attacking , fearless and skilful football on display by Brentford against Arsenal was also seen in the victory  against Wolverhampton and the latest 3 all draw against the mighty Liverpool. Undoubtedly the Bees sting hard.

The EPL has just begun and it’s early days yet , however the start for Brentford has been superb and they find themselves in the top half of the League Standings. Brentford have displayed tremendous self belief . They trust their game and are not shy to put on a show. They have been brave and are in no way intimidated by a more stronger or famous opponent. 

How this remarkably inspiring story will unfold , we will have to wait and see. But for now it so appears that Brentford is here to stay in the Premier League for  sometime . Self belief , an unwavering focus , perseverance, discipline and an appetite for success is bound to give rewards no matter how tough the road is and no matter the time taken. 

The Bees have nothing in common as compared to the celebrated clubs of the world , except the size of the football pitch in their stadium, and they are making the most of it. 

I have turned a fan of the Bees  and I am sure there are many waiting to do so.
