Thomas Frank, Tottenham’s new Manager nursing a heartbreak after his Team’s loss to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup, was expecting a tough contest with new entrants Burnley. But Richarlison produced some sublime finishing and great skill to help the Spurs get past Burnley and record a satisfying victory in the first match of the new season, after a miserable campaign in 2024-25.

There was a lot to cheer for Tottenham Hotspur fans as the London Club produced some exhilarating football to down Burnley at home and make a winning start.

Richarlison was the hero for Tottenham Hotspur, scoring two brilliant goals aided by the ever-enterprising M Kudus. The right winger’s incredible runs from the right were a treat to the eyes. His control on the ball and the ability to find Richarlison on the cross were exceptional.

The first goal came in the 10th minute with Richarlison scoring from a fine volley. But the second one in the 60th minute was an extraordinary goal from Richarlison. It was absolutely reminiscent to the one he scored in the opening game for Brazil against Serbia in the World Cup in 2022. Indeed, the effort was stunning as the talented Brazilian swivelled on one leg and struck the ball with great power. The goalkeeper had no chance whatsoever. A magical effort rarely witnessed.

Brennan Johnson scored the third for the Spurs. An exquisite effort from outside the box. The strike had class written all over it. Eventually, Spurs completed a resounding 3-0 victory over Burnley and gave Thomas Frank a great start to the 25/26 season.
