Sunderland Delight At Stadium Of Light

Sundedrland Delight

Premier League Football returned to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland after 8 long years, when the home team, known as the Black Cats hosted West Ham this evening.

Having invested heavily in assembling a fine team Sunderland produced a memorable performance to hammer the Hammers in their first face-off this season.

An incredible 30 minutes in the second half, saw Sunderland score thrice to beat fancied West Ham with a remarkable 3-0 scoreline

A telling statement from the Black Cats indeed as 20 yr old Eliezer Mayenda from Spain scored in the 61st minute. The header just evading West Ham’s goalkeeper. The stadium erupted. The noise was deafening. The fans had waited 8 years to witness the Sunderland resurgence and they were going to have mote of it.

Twelve minutes later Daniel Ballard, the Northern Irish doubled the tally with another exceptional header laced with great precision. The Hammers just didn’t know what had hit them. Two long crosses into the middle, two headers and a rapturous crowd had shaken the visitors. The momentum was firmly with the Black Cats and they were in no mood to let it go.

Four minutes into stoppage time Wilson Isidor sealed it for Sunderland, with a breathtaking right footer from the left flank just outside the box. The power and the placement of the ball were top notch. Sunderland had displayed some great quality.

It was indeed a terrific start for Sunderland. They showcased their ability to score. They were tough in defence and once the match shifted in their favour they did not let it slip. Kudos to Regis Le Bris too for putting up a good team. Sunderland are not going to be pushovers and in their den they will not be easy to dislodge. West Ham found this out the hard way.

The Hammers, however, have themselves to blame. Jared Bowen had his chances, and so had Fullkrug, but they let it go, and once Sunderland seized the initiative, there was not much West Ham could do. It was a day to forget for Mads Hermansen in Goal. The Dane was completely off colour. A tough day for the Hammers indeed.

Sunderland have had a great start, and it would be interesting to see how they fare at Turf Moor when they travel to Burnley next week.
